up on the roof, with germans

a german photographer and his local handler wanted to get up on the roof of the building next to one of the gardens the other day.  normally i’d be pretty reluctant to honor such a request, but they seemed alright, and it had been such a long time since i had been on the roof either, at least a year and a half.  so i went up with them and snapped a couple of photos myself.

to the left you can see some of the spring plantings; chard, spinach and carrots, then the garlic, summer solanceous crops, folks cleaning up area where onions and scallions lived, and then on the far right side where have planted winter squash and beans (they are just now germinating, some very well-timed rain).  not visible in this photo are the rows of potatoes and onions to the right.

that is all.
