frank morton tribute garden

i’ve written about my love of fedco seeds before.  i could write about my issues, but no need to be a hater.  among the reason i like fedco is because it carries the breeding work of new and innovate breeders.  if i’m reading the description on a lettuce and it’s sound especially intriguing, it’s almost always the work of one breeder: frank morton.  working in oregon, morton has done some amazing breeding work on lettuces and other leafy greens.  this year ma planted a bed with nothing but frank morton selections; blushed butter oaks, really red deer tongue, les oreil, red rumpled, merlox, and meveille to name but a few.

we grow lots of lettuces, and these selection are usually among our favorites.  these varices are available though fedco but also though the seed company morton works with wild garden seed.

do you have favorite breeders or companies that carry especially good varieties?
