urban ecology detroit presents a workshop with eric toensmeier – lessons learned from nuestras raices: permaculture for community and economic redevelopment, february 2nd from 10am to 2pm at the environmental interpretive center located on the campus of the university of michigan dearborn . the cost is 15-50 dollars sliding scale, reservation are required and lunch will be served. there are limited numbers of places so please reserve early.
eric toensmeier worked with nuestras raices in holyoke , mass. for 13 years, including five as project director of the tierra de oportunidades urban farm project and nine as a member of the board of directors. eric is also the award-winning author of perennial vegetables and co-author of edible forest gardens
we are honored to have him in town for a hands on presentation on his work to put permaculture principles into action. nuestras raices is one of the most exciting and community based urban agriculture projects in the country. his workshop with give in-depth information on how nuestras raices works to use food, agriculture, culture and the environment to create community development and leadership. we will then work together to brainstorm and develop ideas that we could implement here in Detroit .
